SPY: The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Limousine (W 205) in a fresh set of shots

Mercedes-Benz will introduce the high-performance version of its brand new C-Class, the C 63 AMG, next summer. The model is currently being put to test by engineers in various locations worldwide. The latest spy shots come from Europe (Nurburgring circuit in Germany) and the United States (the Death Valley Desert).

The new C 63 AMG will premiere a brand new engine - the 4.0-litre 8-cylinder BITURBO powerplant, which should be offered in several, different output versions depending on the model it powers. For the 205 generation of the C-Class, this newly-developed V8 unit will deliver a staggering 462 hp and offer more fuel economy.

While the standard specification is only a mere 5 hp better than the current 457 hp value, it is expected the twin-turbo engine performs substantially better than the old, naturally-aspirated unit, which does not run very efficiently and also consumes a lot of petrol. The acceleration from a standstill up to 100 km/h should take close to just four seconds.

We do not have any information on this, but it is possible the new C 63 AMG also gets a special, enhanced performance variant in the form of an S-Model which also comes equipped with the special, sports-oriented AMG 4MATIC traction. Moreover, the overall kerb weight of the car will be lowered by up to 100 kilograms compared to the 204 model series, even though there is more technology than ever before on a C-Class model.

Speculators also indicate Mercedes-AMG could actually return to the old C 55 AMG moniker for the new 205 model series, but this allegation is yet to be officially confirmed or suggested.

SPY: The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate (S 205) on its first journey in the wild

The new C-Class Limousine, internally badged W 205, will be followed in the second part of 2014 by the estate body variant, baring the code S 205. The practical C-Class will overtake its sedan sibling by a few centimeters and thus will offer more boot space and enhanced practicality.

The future C-Class T-Modell, as this is the official German title for the wagon variant, will boast an increased luggage capacity of over 500 litres with the rear seats unfolded. If those are folded, the loading area of the boot becomes perfectly horizontal up to the front seats and extends up to around 2,000 litres, which is a quite a lot for a mid-sized premium limousine. Multiple storage compartments and most likely an intelligent system that can modify the interior layout as well as the trunk in various, practical ways will be offered. Visually, the estate will be distinguished by the newly designed rear end, which features horizontally-positioned lights shapes like thin bars, which also somehow resemble the theme proposed by the Concept S-Class Coupe at the IAA Frankfurt 2013 (see HERE).

The powertrain will consist mainly of the new MRA rear-driven platform, with the choice of 4MATIC for maximum stability and traction. The new 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox will be as well available for the high-end variants. In what powerplants are concerned, the new C-Class will debut a new, Renault-co-developed diesel unit boasting a 4-cylinder architecture, turbocharging and 130 hp. Further on, there will three more diesel engines with a cylinder displacement of 2.2 litres, which are rated at 170 hp, 204 hp and 231 hp. On the petrol side, the 1.6-litre starting model produces 156 hp. Its bigger brother, the 2.0-litre unit, will be offered in three power stages: 184 hp, 211 hp and 252 hp. The high-end model will be C 400 boasting the all new 3.0-litre direct injection, twin-turbo V6 powerplant cranking out 333 hp.

SPY: Mercedes-Benz B-Class (W 246) gets revised for the 2015 model year

Mercedes-Benz launched the second generation of the B-Class in 2011 at Frankfurt. Sales have commenced soon after the world premiere and installed the compact sports tourer in a comfortable place in its class with remarkable sales numbers. Next year, the company will introduce a refreshed generation of the W 246 model series in order to keep the car competitive on the market.

While the first generation B-Class was developed in a hurry and shared its philosophy with the W 169 A-Class, the second generation that came two years ago is the pioneer of the New Compact Car Generation (NCCG) at Mercedes-Benz. Having got rid of the complicated sandwich structure for the front-driven platform and opted for the simple, yet modular MFA chassis, the new B-Class not only became bigger, but even more versatile, dynamic and premium.

The B-Class has sold like hot cakes since 2011 and for 2015 Mercedes-Benz are preparing a refreshment for the W 246. The test vehicles are already out in the wild since mid-September. As suggested by the camouflaged prototype, the car gets a new face, in line with the new visual philosophy of the brand, which is evolved from the current proposition and is improved with more stylish graphics and the latest LED lighting technology (see HERE). The grille will become more sharply defined and upright compared to the 2011-2014 model and we are also expecting a more dramatic interpretation of the front bumper.

The LED tail lamps should barely be resketched, but you can look for more sporty exhausts to boost the appearance of the rear end. The 2015 B-Class Facelift will receive more efficient powerplants ranging from the B 180 CDI entry-level to the B 250 high-end model. 4MATIC will be available optionally, while the 7G-DCT gearbox is standard equipment on the range-topping variants. Most certainly, the compact sports tourer shall also receive a thorough update in the technology department - expect the newest generation of COMAND Online telematics and the state-of-the-art safety technologies grouped under the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive slogan that have debuted on the new S-Class and E-Class Facelift.

The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class 2015 generation should debut some time during summer 2014, with sales programmed to start towards the end of next year.
