SPY: Sneak view inside the forthcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe (C 217)

After the S-Class Limousine (W/V 222), Mercedes-Benz will further impress the automotive industry with a new member of the prestigious luxury family beginning with 2014. The ultra-revolutionary S-Class Coupe is set to storm waters next year during spring when it gets officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. Here you have the very first photo shots depicting the dashboard of the new 2-door model wearing the three-pointed star.

Compared to the W/V 222 series, the driver of the C 217 has a slightly revised interior architecture in front of his eyes. In the sense that the new S-Class Coupe needs to be a tad more sporty and dynamic than the "traditional" S-Class. The digital instrument cluster and the large-sized COMAND display come straight from the 222 model. Apparently, the new luxury coupe will not receive the classy dashboard clock between the four round-sized air vents - but we will have to wait for the finished product to get a visible conclusion.

The steering wheel sports a completely new design, featuring 3 spokes and multifunctional buttons to ease the access to various functions of the car. Most likely, the new S-Class Coupe a differently styled upper dashboard section in the area located above the storage compartment, as signaled by the load of camouflage cloth placed on it to hide it from inadequate views.

We came across something intriguing in one image - look at the ignition key clearly visible in the closeup. It bares a sticker that clearly says, when stretching your vision a bit, "CL 217". Up to now, we have no indication that Mercedes-Benz has decided to revert the name of the C 217 project back to CL-Class instead of the anticipated S-Class Coupe. We shall see what comes out in the end.

The exterior will reveal the new design philosophy of the brand with more evolutionary surfaces and a more organic treatment of the details. The traditional single louvre grille and the LED headlights will be the hallmark of the front end. The muscular shoulders and the higher window line will balance the profile, whereas the rear area will house the impressively styled tail lights in the shape of horizontal bars pointing towards the the three-pointed star located in the center of the boot lid.

The future generation of the luxury coupe from Stuttgart will display an impressive technology package. Just like the W/V 222, it will too rely solely on LED lighting instead of using conventional light bulbs. The Traffic Pilot, the enhanced Night Vision system, the revolutionary PRE-SAFE and all of the premieres seen on the all new S-Class will make it onto the S-Class Coupe as well. The 2-door Mercedes will further bring the Head Up Display and the 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox, as well as the new Active Multi Beam LED Headlights (see more HERE) and all the comfort features needed to ensure a royal ride like the AIR BALANCE, the high-end Burmester sound system and the intelligent seats with massage and HVAC functions.

At launch, the coupe will come in a single engine variant: S 500 with 455 hp out of the 4.7-litre BlueDIRECT 8-cylinder engine. Later on, the list will be completed with the addition of the new S 600 in 2015, featuring a new AMG-engineered V12 unit capable of releasing around 550 hp. The S 63 AMG will be powered by the 5.5-litre BITURBO engine boasting 585 hp and Performance 4MATIC upon request (for the S-Model is standard feature), while the range-topping S 65 AMG will receive a brand new 12-cylinder powerplant cranking out near 650 hp.
